Goodbye Hammer, welcome Steel:
Key Facts:
100% X-Ply voor maximale belasting. Snelle Power On/Off voor radicale golfritten.

The French WIND Magazine team characterized it as "The great surprise of the wave sail test 2009" and the Italian Windnews Magazine team also confirmed this statement!
The new STEEL isn´t simply a re-designed Hammer; it`s a great brand-new wave sail.
The good swell conditions we had from last October on gave us the chance to test it more detailed. So what is better than an explosive windy day to feel how the new toy is working? By that, even if I was personally very satisfied with the previous model from 2008, the Hammer 4.2, the new Steel seems to come from another planet.
The solid construction is still showing up as a very positive characteristic, but the new sail feels lighter and the workmanship and the details are now even improved. While rigging it with the well-known Reptile Viper Cross Carbon 65% 370/16, which was already used for the "08 Hammer, it`s clear that the new Steel is now requesting less effort for the downhaul rigging.
Sailing with it is a pure amazement! Just a small example what I mean: There are many wave sails, which all are of course able to let you sail in a neutral way, but which have not enough power while doing bottom turns and especially surfing on-shore front-side; I do not like them at all! I personally love sails which reveal their power gently and still feel alive in the hands...that`s exactly how it feels like with the new Steel 4.2.
The top leech is twisting nicely what improves controllability and comfort.
The sail feels much more balanced in the hands compared to the previous Hammer; it`s never pulling too hard on your back hand, even with checked 45 knots wind strength and therefore, it`s always easy to handle things like power-on and neutrality at the same time, just by moving your back hand. That`s all what you need from a 1st class wave sail.
An exciting sail in surfing and maneuvers thanks to the perfect power on-off; the Steel is even able to start planing much earlier than the Hammer and it works better in gusts, the condition we`ve had all along the test.
In the gusts, we especially appreciated the power availability which helps us to get quickly planing and enjoy the first swells with sufficient power. The reference sail I normally use to evaluate other wave sails is the well-known Naish Session and which I consider as one of the best side-shore sails...but I can tell you, beside a little bit of softer feeling of the Session, the differences to the Steel are not remarkable at all.
